I picked this Col-Max up about eighteen months ago in Spain. I paid very little and wasn't sure if it was a genuine item or not, but further research has satisfied me it is genuine. Brass hood, cage and font with a steel base, made in Canada in 1947. Glass is not original. It did not clean up as evenly as I had hoped, the hat is nice, the hood sparkles, the cage probably needs replated and the fount I did not really clean as much as I could the base has an interesting Col-Max wood block ink stamp that I did not want to damage. It's packed away at the moment so all I have are the pictures from the advert. I really need to get it out and take some photographs.
That is a very nice rare catch HD , save it well. Congratulations. Stunning looking too these redhoods in general . This summer I must go to Spain Claus C
I've seen a few more than two of the North American made 222, most are in far worse shape than mine and prices are all over the place. I've only seen two confirmed sale prices, one for a lamp in a similar state to mine and one for refurbished lamp, both make my heart race a little when I think about what I paid. It's not going anywhere though, I just need to find a 333 and a 555 now... might take a while.
Very nice catch, Ellie! How does the fount size compare to the 250 Pmax? When you have time, some detail pics would be nice to see. I really should get cracking on my 555 these hols! " " " " " " " FL6 " " " " " " " " " Apex Marathon " " " " " " " " " [at least 5 others] " "
I'll get round to taking pics sometime. The entire lantern is an almost exact copy of a 200cp 821. HD
