This lamp was fit for the bin, font rotted out, controls full of rust and a serious kink from being dropped but I'm glad I took the time to fix it. 20180309_191034.jpg

My mistake, Thomas; only ever saw a Bronco on TV and never that Chevy as they were never sold here. I bet they make a Ford Ranger look like a Mini in comparison!

Thats a shame, nothing better than cruising back roads in a full size and yes it does make a Ranger look small.

You would have to take out a mortgage just to fill the tank in South Africa.

31 US gallon tank to feed the 350ci (5.7L) small block. Not bad on fuel though I can get 16mpg for it if I keep my foot out of it.

That makes my 22-23 mpg* Jeep Grand Cherokee seem positively frugal! Still, it is a mere 3 litre / 3 tonne Dinky toy compared to that beast of yours. :-k

    * I've no idea if that's US or UK gallons, mind you - just what the dashboard read-out tells me. I just keep on puttin' diesel in there and it just keeps on needing to be refilled... ](*,)

    @David Shouksmith

Unless an acquaintance of mine was exaggerating, I hope your Jeep Grand Cherokee never needs a new starter motor.
Can't get at / remove 3rd. bolt holding starter motor because turbo charger is in the way.
Can't remove last bolt from turbo charger without splitting engine from bell housing.
    Starter motor - not cheap.
    Labour - exorbitant !

    Henry.

We have very few small vehicals with diesels here in Canada, I believe VW is one of the only manufactures that offer a diesel car.

Its hard to believe that Sheriff Longmire is an Australian but he is. The way he plays the part, you'd think he was born in the territory he polices on the show.

I can't quite see him in a long low Camaro ute though...

My old straight-six E320 petrol gives about 18-20 english mpg around town but closer to 30 on the open road, even cruising at around 100 miles/hr. I suppose that is what it was made for after all. David, I think your Jeep has the MB V6 3.0 turbo diesel. In the Mercs it is called the E320 CDI. Very decent motor.

    You talk about heavy toys.
My Ford Focus Diesel runs 51 mpg.
    No joke.
    If I got conversion right.
    This is 4.6L/100km.
    Regards
    Willi

Considering its size, weight and age, I consider my Cadillac very fuel-efficient.
I get around 13l/100km i.e. 18mpg (us) on normal everyday driving.
Not bad at all for a 2,5 tonner with an engine displacement of almost 8 litres (472 cui).

Your Caddie needs that 8 liter motor to lug around its 8 liter motor  That is actually surprisingly good, Christer. I suppose you have a very light foot on the gas.

Actually not too light-footed. Just regular driving, and I do step on it when needed. No slow starts, and I often overtake other cars, and then I floor it. No good to have all that torque but not use it
But it's in a rural area.
When driving in the city, the consumption obviously will be something else...

There is nothing like the torque of a big block!
