Hi Folks. First post here. I got a Hipolito H202 at a yard-sale-ish place for $15. Looks to be in good shape & I guess it's a good price from what I can determine. From Googling, looks like I might get parts for it by matching up to a Petromax or Britelyt model. Can someone tell me what model(s) I'd look for? Suggestions for parts sources?

Haven't tried it yet except that it does build pressure. So, excited to try it out. Need a mantle--can standard Coleman mantles be used?

    Thanks.

At the first, we love to see photos of lanterns here.
I would be nice if you could show us what you have found.

Your lantern is a 250CP lantern and it was made in Portugal as what Petromax and Geniol was until the closure of Hipolito in 1999.

The production moved to China in 2000 and Britelyt make their lantern in the same factory as Petromax.

Unfortunately the production of 250CP lanterns did not continue.

Some parts are still available and some is the same as the larger models.

Try Britelyt for the generic parts as gaskets and so.

There are several European companies that sell parts for 250CP lanterns but there might be a shipping problem to the USA because of some legal problems with Britelyt.

Here is the link to the German company Stuga-Cabaña’s 250CP lantern spare parts:

Thanks Folks! Here are some pictures. The pump builds pressure, but then it begins leaking at various places, so I'm planning to order a gasket-y kit, probably this one:

250CP/ BriteLyt Petromax Parts Kit -Part#1020-LEATHER-250CP – Britelyt

    Then I'll do a tear-down.
So, can this use standard Coleman mantels? Or do I need to order 250CP specific ones?

Also came with a nice heavy canvas carry bag, shown below.
Q: What position should the blue fuel knob point when pumping? Up or down? Presume it just goes around, not screwing in or out.

You can use Coleman 21A mantles at a push but they won't do your lantern justice, 99's are better if you can still get them. Best of all is to get 250 / 350cp mantles which fill out to a balloon shape rather than the sock shape of Coleman mantles.

You're quite right about the blue knob going round and round and if everything is as it should be, when the point is up, so is the cleaning needle and provided the foot valve (i.e. the NRV at the bottom of the fuel riser tube) is in good working order, the fuel is shut off.

When the point is down, the needle is down and the foot valve is open allowing fuel from the tank to rise through the vapouriser.

So, if you wish to use the rapid pre-heater to start the lantern, then the pointer should be up. This will allow you to build pressure in the tank - necessary to make it work.

When using denatured alcohol to pre-heat the lantern or adding more air, the pointer should be down.

    Have a look here

I always wonder why people start buying parts before they know what the lantern needs and esspecially how it works.
    Read the manual my dear.
If you don't have one google one and read it.
If you still can't find it :here is the Petromax version at the bottom: Ehrich & Graetz
