Not a Petromax of any persuasion. That is a Hasag 42. I have this listed as Efar model D. Raceck didn't give their lamps model numbers. The 608 is part of the registered trade mark. Nice find. ::Neil::
@Mackburner Thank you Neil, that is helpful, although I should have worked that out given that there is an unfired one on here and I remember your comments about it's glass. Had a fun day cleaning this lamp although the tank has not responded to any form of treatment. It looks like the mixing tube has been broken and badly repaired at some point. The tap assembly is marked Efar Germany. Apart from being caked in mud like someone had found it in the bank of a river it seems in reasonable condition.
After breaking the needle it's time to call it a night and accept that it won't run today. Still a good days fettling though.
@karli Thank you for the handy tip, that gives some light at the end of the tunnel. Just had a go at running the lamp, looks like the broken mixing tube needs attention. The fuel burns in the hood and does not get as far as the nozzle. Amazingly the pressure gauge worked, impressive given that it's full of mud and wd40.

Managed to fit a needle and pack the generator with some mesh. Also found a mixing tube from a veritas 350 that looked close enough.
Still got some tinkering to do, like fit a top cap and stuff but it's now a runner. It has had it's moments but finding and fettling this lamp has been good fun.
This lamp is now finished. I soldered a 1/4 bsw screw to the air tube to fit the top cap. I had to move the pre heat dish to the centre as the flames tended to run up the glass. I am quite fond of this lamp, it does run well.
