Jeff It’s a “Tilley-like” pump as seen on this Gloria table lamp: The funny thing is that the pump in the photo, from a lamp that has a very similar tank, does not fit the one I’m fettling. It’s too long. Luckily I have a few wrecked Glorias and can cobble the correct pump for this lamp. Tony @JEFF JOHNSON
And now for something completely different! Not a Gloria, as such, but another Australian piece of weirdness, married to France. This is not a home-made job, but may well be a bit of 1920s Melbourne workshop innovation. I will be more than pleased if I can get this bastard to light. Cheers Tony
Wow, that’s quite a lamp! It’ll be interesting to see it in component form.... Good luck Tony, that’s some fettle!
Looking good so far Tony. By the way, who or what is the wee mannie on the shelf behind in your first pic of this lamp?
@Jean J The “wee mannie” is cast brass spirit figure (Indonesian) that is used to cast away evil spirits. Cheers Tony
Well done @Tony Press. A very elegant lamp, she looks the grouse. A fettle write up coming? Cheers Pete
Pete Yes. Big write up coming later in the week. This lamp is one out of the box, and an excellent lamp! Cheers Tony @AussiePete
@Tony Press Wow, now that’s a find, is the iron in the box? I have a few irons in my Fettle queue, but certainly not a Gloria one. This is going to be an interesting one for sure. Happy New Year mate. Did you have a good Christmas? Cheers Pete
@AussiePete Yes. I have the iron, and I’m working on it now. I’ve studiously avoided irons, but accepted this one because of my interest in Australian-made Gloria products. It has some interesting features and I’ll post it soon(ish). We did our Christmas thing “European-style” with the immediate family all here for Christmas Eve - first time all home for a few years. Cheers Tony
