Hello All, I am currently renovating a Tilley Floodlight projector (Hendon). Someone once told me that the original stickers are still available to buy new. Does anyone know if this is correct or where I could possibly get one? Also, was the original black paint a matt or a gloss? I would like to get it correct first time. I recently renovated an AL10 and am finding it is fast becoming quite addictive. Any help and advice would be very gratefully received. I have added an image of the AL10 and an image of the Hendon Sticker.
Hi Toby! You are in the right place for answers and pics are always a great help, so thanks for showing! I don't have any exact answers but i'm sure that others will be along in a while to help. There are some folks that have made their own and i know at least on chap on ebay that supplies a few, but they are transfers, not stickers...he may be able to make some from a photo? As to the paint, i am not sure.. i have a hunch it was more of an 'eggshell' type of black? Only a guess tho! Good luck with things!
The AL11 was said to take over the AL10 in 1935. Jim Dick says in his book that the actual ending date may have been beyond that so I think 1938 maybe, 1942 I doubt. @Toby I am sure I have seen the decals (stickers rather than water transfers) on ebay but they did not come up on a search just now.
That AL10 is a thing of beauty - hadnt seen one of those before. Must keep an eye out. The present Mrs Ngoz will be pleased
Hi all, Thank you so much for your help and comments. I am still looking for the sticker/transfer for the F6 but the renovation is almost complete. She is looking magnificent. Once properly finished I will add a few pics. I might even replace family pics in my wallet with Tilley photos.
Don’t laugh but I always carry a photo of my best lamps in my handbag and am never slow to show it around! I don’t carry a photo of my husband or even my dog though.
