Trying to figure out how this lantern works? How does it pressure up? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
@Ryan Center Can you post a photo of the whole lamp, please? Does it have a manufacturer ID? I assume that if it doesn’t have its own pump, it will have a check valve in the filler cap and use an external pump. Cheers Tony Edit: Welcome, by the way.
Welcome Ryan, Certainly sold by Sears but made by the National Stamping & Electric Co. - i.e. Nulite. Late '30's to early '40's. It's a kerosene lamp so the generator will need preheating before opening the valve. To pressure the font, you'll need a pump like one of the 10 or 11 inch ones shown here. Canadian Coleman lantern Henry.
Thanks for the help!!!! It took me a little while, but with lots of help from Tony Press, I got this thing going.
This was supplied with a mica inner globe and a pleated parchment type shade. Not so easy to find I should think but you may be able to fit a shade holder for an opal glass shade. ::Neil::
I was thinking mine was a 1942 model, but my generator looks like figure D, so is that mean it’s a 1941?
What about a Tilley one? ..Available from Hoots, Flip Flop and Fly on Ebay? Surely that can't break the bank with shipping charges? And shame on you @Ryan Center for calling your lovely lamp a 'thing'
The '42 B generator is the same as the '41 D. The lamp was only listed from Fall '41 to Fall '42 so likely only available for 15 to 18 months at most and for any make or model of lamp that is pretty tight dating. ::Neil::
