Hallo Titoo, I think the same. Bute I think the Lusalia ist made in Portugal.Bevor FAMA and HIpolito.
And the old Lusalia ist still alive . I hope someone can find some Informations about this old pressurelamp from Lisboa Portugal. Regards,Reinhard
That looks like a very well made lantern, Reinhard. Does it have its exclusive top reflector? A picture perhaps? Thank you for introducing this lamp here, regards, Mike
@M.Meijer No, unfortunately I do not have an original reflector. I don't know if there was a reflector for the Lusalia and what it looked like. I took the reflector of a Hasag 551 and made it fit. Alternatively, I bought a white enameled reflector from South Korea. But you cannot fold up the handle. I am not satisfied. I saw a second Lusalia. It was identical, but had a Pertinax handwheel. Regards Reinhard
Pertinax as the phenolic plastic or do you refer to a brand? If the former, and original, that lamp could be pre-war. Either way, another such lamp must be a rare occasion. Where did you see it? As for the shade, your handiwork on the alloy (?) Hasag reflector is exemplary, so my guess is you will find a way to make that korean shade fit. Good luck, Mike
@M.Meijer I mean the composite Pertinax. Hard paper pressed together with synthetic resin. I found a picture of this Lusalia. It was sold on German eBay in February 2019.The reflector of the Hasag 551 is made of light metal. Regards Reinhard .
Well, it could be a disc or knob by some other brand, perhaps Hasag, but it looks realy nice and more in keeping with the classic look. I think these relative obscure brands often posess a real charm on their own, and I do love these blue tops that permeate throughout the history of pressure lamps albeit never a main stream colour. Thanks again, Mike
Now I was able to find a 300cp lamp of this brand and add it to my collection. The 300cp lamp differs from the 400cp lamp in many small details. Much more brass was used in the Lusalia R 51 than in the Hasag 51 A. Why the increase from 300cp to 400cp? I think it has something to do with an Indian law (1941??) that no 300/350cp lamps could be imported into India to support their own production. With a 400 cp lamp you might be able to bypass the law. Regards Reinhard
It appears you now have a very nice and interesting set of Lusalia's, and both in good condition. I think with two such lamps you can qualify as the prominent Lusalia collector, Reinhard! Where did you discover this 300CP version? Mike
