Did a lye bath for the fount to clear out rust and clean the nickel exterior, that was when I noticed all the stress cracks. Fixed the stress cracks on the fount for this, bummed that it had 27 stress cracks, but wanted to see it lit once. Sealed the fount with POR15, waited a couple days, then checked for leaks today, then added fuel. Had to tighten the generator nut some and the packing nut for the valve shaft. Added a oring on the fuel plug as it looked like maybe someone used some RTV silicone stuff to form a washer. Ran the pricker a few times upon start up and it was off running. Used a 500cp mantle. Back on a shelf or sell since most recommend not using. Duane
Thank you guys, not many stoves or lanterns/lamps I have picked up that were not usable. Good experience, get to see how they were designed. Duane
Great fettle, Duane. And a very nice lantern. Edit: I note these AGM 57 lanterns are from the early 1920s (?1923-26), so it’s good to see it up and running. They were rated at 400cp. Back in the day they were for sale for $7.50. Cheers Tony
