    Nice lamp, and rare compared to the usually seen
    Coleman or SMP.
    Which year is on the stamp?

    Hi Matthias

    Date stamp is 1963. Read that Thermos only had the contract to produce mil specs for one year.

    nice, i have 2 of the extenders on order from ocp and will use my painted smp vents for them as not to scratch up my porcelain ones. i had to upgrade them to match my coleman ones you know. i will also use them on my colemans but with the painted vents.

    @Hanzo
    Nice looking and a well running lantern. I do like these MilSpecs.
    Does she have the MilSpec roar when lit?
    Cheers

    It does roar indeed, a very loud lantern. lol I used to smile when I heard it, sometimes though the roar can be a bit much for me so I replace the burner tube with a screened cap one and it quiets the lantern quite a bit.

    Roaring lamp is not a bad thing. Gives me excuse to not hearing my wife when she shouts towards me while I sit in my workshop. When she finally steams into shop, a bit angry, and sees (and hears) Optimus 1550 running she blames the lantern :D

    @Hanzo - would you not mind posting a photo of this MIL vent extender? What is it made of? I’m thinking about making something simillar. Thanks beforehand!
