One of my most prized finds is this Coleman Model 121 Century Duolite using an 11/33 242A. The lantern is original to the Duolite base, given the thin wear line on the fount that corresponds exactly to the base's nickel rim (see red arrow in photo). It must've moved around in that base for years! It was a great feeling to put the two back together as they were found on separate tables at a farm estate auction. A 1934 catalogue lists the colours available as black, red, and green. I'm not aware of any other red specimens of this style of base. The Coleman shade was found at another sale. It gives the lamp a nice soft light. Thanks for looking! Mike.

On this model, there's lots of stud, so the original ballnut holds the shade on so far as I've seen in catalogues. Mike.
It looked even odder at the auction because they had it upside down on the table! I figured it was a cake pedestal at first. I'm glad I pretty much memorized Terry Marsh's site. Some adverts which also mention silvertone and coppertone colours in 1938. I haven't heard of any having been found. Mike.

I’m almost sure one of these came up in auction 2 or 3 years ago and if I hadn’t been waiting for another lot to come up I would have gone for it. It may not have been a Coleman, my memory maybe playing tricks on me but the CPL member who bought it could possibly confirm. Come to think of it haven’t seen or heard of Highland Dweller for some time now, hope everything is OK?

I'll be adding that to the Duo-Lite file! @ColinG When I think back, I can't remember if I noticed the wear line on the fount before I bought them, or if it was only back at the car when I sat the lantern in the base. All I know is I didn't dare flip it over and try the lantern in the base before the sale, or I would've revealed all to the world. Because old Coleman lanterns in--I'll admit it--kinda homely bases are what everybody is hunting for! Mike.
