Hi all, I have a damaged check valve on an Aladdin 1A that otherwise is in great condition. I have the correct tool but it’s been damaged in the past and I can’t remove it, the tool just slips where the edges have been burred off. Any advice on how to get the bugger out will be greatly appreciated. Swearing at it does not work.
@Buckaroo You could try and get the NRV out with an “easy out”, but be careful to not damage the threads that it screws into. But if it’s really knackered, you will have to unsolder the pump tube, change the NRV, and solder it back in. Cheers Tony
Thanks @Tony Press - that’s what I feared. Painted fount is in very nice condition so won’t be unsoldering it. And to be honest I wouldn’t know how!
@Buckaroo , you could try soaking it in a mix 50/50 acetone and transmission fluid it makes a good penatrine, let it sit for few days, I’ve made NRV remover by cutting a slot in a bolt the size of the tube, cut the slot maybe a bit less than the thickness of the NRV , you can slide it over the NRV but because it is smaller you can carefully bang it over the burred NRV, a combination of the penetrating oil, a forced slot over burred NRV and some banging then try turning, this may help
