Not an original method, but worth demonstrating. Magnified pricker wire tips. Top one is from a Tilley CS56 stove. I use one of these (fine grit diamond) in a Dremel (or equivalent). Tool is upright and direction of rotation is away from the wire point. Practice on a piece of wire before attempting the Tilley/Bialaddin/Vapalux re-pointing. The smallest amount of material should be removed. It shouldn’t shorten the pricker wire to the extent of compromising the pricking function, but I have on occasion extended the other end with a blob of silbraze, machined to blend in with the brass sleeve. A less elegant alternative would be to place a disc shim piece on the control cock cam. John
Do you mean in a rare example where I’ve extended the length (fractionally) of the brass sleeve? In that case, no, but the extent if ‘shortening’ if any involved is a millimetre typically. The rare case might get to 2mm, when extending the length of the sleeve might be necessary. Even the 2mm wouldn’t/hasn’t led to a noticeably stiffer pricker action.
