Hello ! I've just Saved 2 of these from trash. This is a really good lamp ! But one seem's have an issue : - No problem when starting : provide good light (but dimmer compared to the other where the light is really strong). - After 10 minutes, the mantle loses its luminosity and large yellow flames appear at the level of the generator. I don't know why yet, knowing that the sleeves and the fuel are the same. It's seems that the generator is not sufficient hot. Regards.
Hi Hebusletroll. Assuming you have cleaned everything (including inside the generator) and made sure there are no leaks - these have the same schrader valve in them that the later coleman fule lamps have. I have found that if you use a normal car/bycicle type valve schrader valve, the fuel makes the rubber seals in the valve swell up. Once the fuel stops they do shrink back a little. This leads to funny business as you can imagine. In the end I bought some schrader valves for air conditioning use as these are fuel resistant. Make sure you get the small ones (there is more than one size in the world of air conditioning).
