Hello. Has this Petromax 826E. The glass says AUER 40P Berlin. My question is. Where does the letter E in the type designation mean. Tom .
@Tom Pedersen In an 1953 Petromax advert in French language (Px doc. Which reads in English: "The gasifiers of the PETROMAX 350 and 500 candle lanterns have been improved so that they are provided with a lateral reinforcement rib, and all PETROMAX lanterns now have a modernized inner mantle offering enormous technical advantages and increasing the lighting intensity by about 20%. By adjusting the adjusting screw on the mixing tube the highest light intensity can be set. These lanterns have the letter E behind the type number. For these two inventions the patent application is filed." Hope that helps...
At least one of the two inventions that are mentioned. I'm still searching for the one with the adjustment paddle in the mixing tube... BTW: According to the documents, earlier the letter "E" behind the type number was unique to the "Aladdin Petromax" types that were produced during a short period (1938/1939) for the British market. Those had a needle valve as a fuel shutoff together with the excenter spindle, and a Rapid preheater. Quite rare lanterns.
@WimVe @Martin K. Thank you very much for all the answers. I'm learning something new here at CPL all the time. Tom
