Hello So close, I can smell the Kerosene!! Just fitted a new-to-me vapouriser for a Primus/Optimus 1550. All good . ( Kindly supplied by the excellent Tilleyman in the UK) Then I've pumped air into it dry and find I have a tiny leak through the vapouriser jet. The cleaning needle is desperately close to blocking /doing its job as, at full extension, the needle will alter the flow of air...So I know its very close. Question . What are my options please? One thought I've had is to unscrew the needle slightly to extend its reach. Is that a thing? Any other suggestions, greatly received. BTW.. It is the correct needle and jet. Thanks again AW
@AntWhiteMan It’s not the needle that cuts off the fuel.. There’s a seal often called a foot valve in the tank.. have you changed any seals? I wouldn’t adjust the needle just yet .. it needs to be out of the way when the lantern is working and not interfering with the fuel flow. there is a great thread by @presscall Search for Primus 1550 1970’s in the search bar, top right .. good pics of what it looks like it won’t stop it working.. you can switch off by undoing the pressure release.. try a light up without a mantle first
@AntWhiteMan have a look here https://classicpressurelamps.com/attachments/px-rest-pdf.57117/ (yes it's for a Petromax but they're basically the same), scroll down to picture 7 Generator foot valve, it's a little different to the pump NRV in that the seal is more like an O ring. Your best bet is part no. 193 @£2.00 here Petromax Spares Price List, the alternative is the whole unit #2620 @£5.75 Optimus Spares Price List
