Friends, Just a couple of hours before the final count down of launching. I would like to pay my respect to Ross, Christer and you other guys; I believe you done severe hours and days work for creating this great site and forum. Big applauds for you guys . I will also take the opportunity to wish you all a great and healthy new 2011. /Conny
OK on the stroke of midnight say with me "I name this site CPS may God bless her and all who browse in her" Should be done to the sound of a breaking magnum of course. ::Neil::
Well Neil........, I am an hour ahead so that means cracking two magnums, no big problem really . The thing is however; will I bless CPS or CPL ? I know of the CCS but must there be another stove forum? Can we just settle for the C P L ……… please! Now I had to go deep down to my wine cellar and fetch two magnums. Cheers for now:: /Conny
You guys are very cruel to your ice-cream lollipops! Conny's beaten me to it in thanking 'Duh Management', particularly Ron, sorry, Ross for the fantastic site we now have here. Also thanks to all who've contributed with images of their lamps, literature, discussions etc. Well done, and thanks very much - it's greatly appreciated! I'm sure the new members will be hugely impressed when we open in just under 2 hours. For my part, I just wish I'd had the time to contribute more and post more of my stuff over the last three months. Sorry about that, but circumstances have dictated otherwise. Maybe next year, eh! All the very best, everyone, for 2011!
Don't know about a Magnum but I'm half way through a large glass of Talisker in a quiet house with everyone abed! Our lads birthday tomorrow so a big day!
Ross, I can't but salute you for your good taste! Talisker is my first choice of Whisky, and I would be ashamed if I don't have atleast two bottles at home: It's something with this malt that really appeals to me. Don't know what. Perhaps it's the aroma of kelp and the breeze of the salty sea of Skye that reminds me of my own Island.
Christer, I don’t know what they say on Islay, I have a smoky Bowmore bottle here, unfortunately empty now, I just had a sniff of the last scent of it , it will go to recycling tomorrow. /Conny
Cheers Ross, and a happy new year to you! The monitor is a SyncMaster P2450. Don't know if it's better or worse than the 220, but it's bigger.
Skål Conny! Islay Whiskies are a tad bit to extreme to me, even if I do enjoy them. I have an old Lagavulin cask strength that seems to last for ever (demands much water) Move further north and they suit my taste buds better. Actually I sometimes find Talisker to have a bit to much character and move even further up... I really like highland park. Smooth for a single malt. But as you see... I prefer to stay on the Islands.
Christer, I agree, the Islay whiskeys need a lot of water to be drinkable; the taste of tar takes you back to your childhood Swedish West Coast landings with crab fishing! /Conny
Many years ago when I still took an occasional dram, I did enjoy Highland Park, there are several vintages of it. If you want more information, this company who are based in the Orkney Islands do have a website. Simply do a Google search for Highland park, Jeff. PS., The toast in the Hebrides, (that's the islands off the west coast of Scotland) and in other Gaelic speaking places, is pronounced SLANGE-EVAA, but I'm not sure how it's spelt in Gaelic. The Gaelic language has fewer letters in it than the English language does, so they use various combinations of letters to represent certain sounds.
Good day and a happy New Year to all! I don't (as yet ) have many pressure lamps so I won't be posting a lot here, but sure hope this forum gets as succesfull as CCS! Thanks to all that spend many hours in the creation of CPL. I'll raise a wee dram o' Laphroaigh tonight to celebrate its birth (Laphroaigh being my all time fav, also the proud owner of 1 square foot of Islay ) All the best, Wim
Happy new Year 2011 to everyone and Congratulations for this new site!! Will we have to subscribe separately to this site or will the subscription for CCS cover both? Anders ~Light Bringer~
Hi Anders - subscribing is purely optional but the membership & subscription is totally separate from CCS. CPL has to stand on it's own 2 feet financially.
Cheers Wim - also mine. A little rough for some tastes but it's the way I like it. My preferred taste is the reverse of Christers - Islays first, then working up to Talisker & Highland Park!
