Hi, was a bit worried about getting this one going because I heard some where that they can be evil beasts to light.
Had a go on the weekend this was the result.

Dipped the pre-heater in methylated spirits. The second dial is to send a jet of air through the middle of the pre-heater not fuel as I first thought.

Next to a Tilley TL106 it doesn't look too bright but going through an old mica globe it aint that bad.

Mantle on it is a 500cp Anchor.
    Roars like a steam train.
Had it running for several hours last night, didn't even need to give it a pump up. Though it did take about 170 pumps with pre-heating and getting to running pressure.

I was surprised that Coleman pumps and caps fitted this lamp, there has to be a story behind that. If any one has info, I'd love to hear it.

There will be a serial number on the control wheel. If you have not already done so then please contact Terry Marsh so he can record it. ::Neil::

    Hi Anthony,

Today i discover your lantern Aladddin Model: A in action

This lantern it's a rare bird.
This lantern is very atypical and technically interesting.
I hunted for five years, she came from the USA in may 2017, a collector who sold it to me, she wears the N°.147 on the red wheel, she is registered with Terry Marsh.
Despite the physical appearance, this lantern and completely in it original state factory.
I find it really fantastic look !
When it will be fully restored and functional i will make a publication for reference galery.
I allow myself to slide some pictures :

    Hi Quangtan,

Yes this lantern is old and rare, it is a "satelite" in my collection.

It was manufacturing from 1931 to 1934, today it is brought to the surface 23 copies worldwide, including a prototype or pre-serie.
A former of Aladdin Mantle Lamp Of America Of Chicago said "this lantern Model A has never been produced in quantity"
With the economic context of the time was a commerciel failure.

    Regards,
    Titoo
