Here is another colour combination. Coffee and Cream. I repainted the globe cage on this about an hour ago. I bead blasted it and then sprayed on Hammerite Smooth Silver. Normally this stuff takes around 4 days to full cure but I find that 20 minutes in the oven at 200c does the trick. This lantern is pretty much the same as 1511 except the pricker rod is like a Coleman with a hook fitter. I seem to recall that I have fitted a Coleman generator to a Turner table lamp so very probably this lantern would also run with 300 cp coleman generator. Handy that because it means that this model is always going to be easier to fettle because a Coleman generator is not a problem whereas Turner generators are impossible. This is the first Turner fettle I have done over the last two days that has run as it should. It instant lights and runs bright on full fuel. ::Neil::

Think I 've run out now. Mind you there should be 1501 and X159 lurking amongst the pile but I could not see them today. Probably trip over them tommorow. I won't post the X159 because that is already featured here but if I can find the 1501 I might. Next trick is likely to be the Brooklures. Should be a couple of those hiding somewhere. Compared to Brooklure stuff Turners are neat lightweights. ::Neil::
NICE Turner!!! I see that they made a change to the "connecting rod" that rides on the valve shaft to accept a hooked pricker shaft. I found that on my "parts" X-159. That Brooklure you mention is very much like the "10 pound brown" that Prentiss Wabers built for Sears. They may be "cousins". Bob
Yes pretty close cousins at that. Brooklure is Joseph Spiegel mail order and it is for sure they never made them so the PW-Turner cross is likely the same lantern. I remember a few years back Terry March side by side comparison of these and some where I have some images of this. There are some variations as I recall but they are minor. Be a couple of days yet but I will dig them out and see what can be dusted off to show here. ::Neil::
Hi, all. Stumbled into here when looking for info on Turners. Most of the stuff here in the US is centered around Coleman. So there is not much on the "off brands" I like all kinds ofpressure lamps. I have a pair of Turners and I did fit a Coleman lantern to one I soldered the base end of the turner pricker to what I assume is a Coleman generator (it was in a bin with some parts) It works reasonably well but the cleaner sticks a bit which is not a problem but it also surges a bit which is annoying. Do you know what model Generator you have used? I really like the shape and weight of these so I want to get them running.
I can't remember, it was some years ago but probably a 220/228 type as the Turner will be 300cp gasoline as are the Coleman 220 types. ::Neil::
I'm having a problem where my pricker broke off, how did you solder a Coleman one on? Mine is the X159 style.
There is a thread on the forums at Old Coleman Parts. But basically what I did was use some music wire (guitar string) to make a picker. I sort of uncrimped the end of a old picker rod. Opened it up enough to get the pricker out and put in a new one. Then hammered the new one back in enough to hold it. The spliced that rod to the bottom end of the Turner. The Turner attaches to the main body of the lantern differently than the Coleman. It's a bit tedious but not bad at all. Getting the length of the assembly right is important. I just used non lead plumbing solder although I was thinking of using something a little more high temp. I'm on my phone or I'd provide some links
