It arrived today, and I got it cleaned up. Waiting on some fettling advise in another thread before I light it off.
Good thing I asked in the other thread. Looks like it still had the plastic globe protector in it for shipping. Gotta take that out before I burn it. I Will try to light tonight if I get home from work in time.
I have no idea how to tell how old this lantern is since there don't seem to be any date stampings at all. But based upon the amount of dust and general corrosion, this lantern sat unused on the shelf in someones garage or shed for many years. There were dust bunnies inside the globe. LOL I will hopefully know tonight if it was $15 well spent.
I got her lit last night with a soft start on e new mantle. Damn these things are bright. It was hard to get good pictures of it with all the glare
Yup, well fettled Petromax lamps and their clones are bright as hell! During the last power cut we had, I only needed one of my Anchor P'max clones to illuminate the whole living room and even then it was kind of painful if you accidentally glanced at it.
I Picked up a different Egret this week. A 950 New Old Stock that should be arriving Saturday. I will put up a different thread for it once it arrives. Got it on E-bay from a seller called Lancaster Lanterns. From googling, it looks like an Amish lantern shop in PA. That make their own custom kerosene lanterns.
@Chip Packard Yes, you are right, it is an Amish manufacturing company and here you have some links to their lanterns in our reference library. Lancaster lantern Model #701 Nite Hawk.
