Here is a kitson A type donut lamp quite a large lamp 22inches from the hanging eye to the reflector, the glass puts another 9inches on the lengh. Reflector at 14 inches seems a standard size around that period and a steel welded seam tank a heavy lamp. The only referance i can find to it is a book on oil lighting dated at 1915 so presume it was made before this and not after 1922 when company name changed. Kitsons made 2 lamps like this i think this is model J15 as J12 is a short version of this. Runs on parrafin and now goes well reckon its a 600cp lamp and instructions say to run it at 55-75 psi well best i can do with the bike pump is 50 but it goes great anyway. The straight vapouriser runs thro the tube that feeds gas to the mantle so reheats it and i have seen a patent for this setup in 1908 by kitson. It is a similar not same as seen in this post of one in stamford museum http://0flo.com/index.php?threads/192 The bottom half of the cowl lifts up to allow access to the inner skeleton of the lamp for maintainace i reckon, pressure gauge is a replacement part that was missing when i got it The mecho stuck out at the base of the lamp is a complicated pricker operating device cheers pete
