Hello, I received this lantern a month and a half ago. It was quite rusty: It had the obligatory dead spider: And dated T 15 - so 15th week of 1929? There was some strange rattling in the font - I managed to retrieve these bits of solder from inside: I used autosol to clean up the font and everything else went into a bucket of citric acid to clean: Ordered new washers, mantle, needle and nipple from Base Camp. First fire up was good - plenty of flame: Fitted the mantle: Very satisfied with this. It sounds like those old gas heaters we used to have in my home.
Well done indeed. Your lantern is running very well, Thank you for sharing your victory with us. Cheers, Norman
Well done. That looks to be in very nice condition and working well. T = 1929 is correct. Unfortunately we don't really know what the numbers mean. All we know is that they don't have anything to do with the date. The only hint we have ever had is that it is a "work" number.
I love these Primus 1001's. They are a great lantern. I have one dated 1930, and it runs like a real champ! Great job!! You're going to get attached to this lantern real fast. It will become one of your favorites, believe me!
