This is the older of the two Optimus 300 lanterns I have. I assume later than the 1931 type posted by Nils as the generator is two piece and there is no lower plug to remove the pricker rod. I could not dismantle the mixing tubes without a great deal of trouble but the whole set up is bolted to the hood and both inner and outer hood parts come off the lamp together. Not in great condition but sound enough and it works rather well. Mind you I only ran it for ten minutes so it did not have time to develop the normal Optimus black mantle syndrome. ::Neil::

If the filler cap is original to the lantern, then this is what I call the third variation. That would put it in the period 1935 to 1938. The 1935 part is just an educated guess.

I thought you might have a better idea than me about date. Up to 1938 sounds OK to me though. I assumed pre WW2 anyway.Thanks. ::Neil::
