Jeff, I have never seen a PL55 with this style handle or with a reflector. Is it the earliest version or the rarest or what?

Hello Jean, I do not have an exact date for this lantern, but it's pre- 1939/40 as it's designed for the XN., control cock, and that is the type of handle which I have seen on most PL55 lanterns.

Have a look at Pete's PL55 which is shown in this section of the website, it has the same handle.

The reflector is a genuine Tilley one of the period and the remains of a Tilley label are still on it's underside.

I have seen two WW2., PL55 lanterns which had the same handle as the PL53 lanterns from that period, Jeff.
