Here is my second example of this lamp.

I bought it at a local auction too.

The original finish was still in acceptable condition, so I just cleaned the lamp and restored it to working order.

It's fitted with a fine old gas globe. Jeff.

Another fine example indeed, Jeff, especially the condition of the original finish. Is the metal finish jappaned or an oxidized finish. Tilley really did a nice job matching it to the wood finish.

That globe is really quite elegant and fits the lamp well.

Helo Dan, I think that the finish is done with some kind of lacquer.

It's fine to have a variety of glass, so whenever I can, I obtain old gas globes.

These Jacobean lamps turn up now and then, but they are not that common.

The link below shows one of my posts and there are two more gas globes fitted to Tilleys, Jeff.

Stunning lamp Jeff, I wonder if any of these lamps made it to Australian soil. I haven't seen one before.

Jeff, I think both of your Jacobean lamps have the wider decorative band around the top of the copper bowl. Mine has the narrow band. Do you know if this dates them to a certain year?

Hello Tony, Tilley made the Jacobean for at least a decade, so I would not be surprised if some were exported to Australia.

Hello Jean, you are correct about the decorative band on my Jacobeans, but I have not seen or heard of any paper appearing which dates the different bands.

Perhaps both styles were available at the same time.

The link below shows Neil's Jacobean and his lamp has the narrow decorative band and the curves on the wooden stand twist in the opposite direction, Jeff.

Ah yes and mine is dated. It has an engraving inside from some guy who gave it as a Christmas present in 1937. ::Neil::
