Model 234 is a single mantle 175 cp kerosene lantern. Made for just two/three years 1936 to 1938. This one is date stamped 6-2 so February 1936. The stamp is faint but just readable. ::Neil::
Hi Neil, This one is stamped 0 6 on the bottom. That would mean June 1940. The Coleman Collectors Guide states that the 234 was made from 1935-1940. Do you know something I don't? That's entirely possible. Bob
It is also possible I was wrong. Happens you know 'cos I am not infallible. Almost mind you but I never mind being proved wrong because often that leads to a better understanding of the truth. OK so 1935 to 1940. Can't argue with a date stamp on a lamp. ::Neil::
I have just been looking at dates for this and 235. Both models were advertised as New in a 1936 catalogue and price list dated 1st July 1936. Coleman did not often introduce a lamp in the middle of the year so it is very possible it was produced from the late fall of 1935 for the 1936 season. The last catalogue/price list they appear in is dated Jan 1940 so they were still in the line then but they are not in the Jan 1941 list so had to be dropped in 1940. So 1935 maybe but 1936 for sure and up to 1940 is the production period according to the paper and that so far agrees with the lamps we know of. ::Neil::
