This is the first variation of the 1082. The model started in 1949 and stayed the same until 1952. Basically the only change then was a new style wheel. The final change came in 1954 and can be seen in the post of Neil's.

This lantern is from 1951 (AP 34) and I believe came from the civil defence or phone company here in Denmark. It originally had a red band painted around the base and this can still be seen in the stamping on the tank.

    Hi Nils and happy newyear.
The 31 december 2013 I drove home for newyear and passed Vejle at 1700 o'clock, where I was supposed to buy a 523 Petromax.
But The lamp was a Primus 1082, what I didnt mind :) and is stamped AN (1949). Do you know what controlwheel original were :?: - because it was changed to a new blue petromax-handle.

In my opinion you came away a winner, but of course I'm little biased. ;) A 1949 1082 will have the same control wheel as the one above. Not an easy part to find.

That is unusual Frederik. It is the only one I have ever heard of. My assumption was that considering the relative lack of lanterns stamped AN that this must have been the first year. It's good to learn something new. Is everything else on it identical?
