having the angled rods look rather than the other 1961 lamps shown here with straight rods but stamped X246 A. Some features of the precedent model 246 remained as it has a pressure indicator and a control knob which can not be pulled off but screwed off anticlockwise. Fettling was easy, and it's working well. Matthias
@JonD Normallement oui, mais la boite est vide, seulement deco Normally yes, but the box is empty, only deco. Matthias
Yours must be a very early example just after the Guardsman-type X246A run-out version:- 1961 (August) X246 'Guardsman' - or is it? | Classic Pressure Lamps & Heaters
@David Shouksmith Those were my thoughts as well, looking at Carlssons X246 A Guardsman style lamp of December 1961. It's a Tilley confusion Matthias
On the other end of the 246A production I just found a one dated October 1965. The 246B was meant to have started late `64.
... and in the Reference Gallery, there is an X246B dated 7/65 demonstrating the overlap of production dates for X246A and X246B: 1965 - X246B with shade Tony
