    Here is my recently acquired Coleman 201-700 Kerosene (Paraffin) lantern

    Manufactured November 1974 in Wichita, Kansas U.S.A. Found in NSW Australia

    It was in quite good condition with a little rust on the cage lower plate. The rest only required light cleaning. There was no rust in the font. The generator appeared to have had very little use (minimal carbon build up). The empty replacement generator packet in the box probably accounts for this.

    Here is the box it came in along with a list of service centres. Unfortunate for the original owner it only lists service centres in U.S.A.

    Hi Martin
    Your lantern looks good for it's age. I have one of the same manufacture date without the decal and only noticed on yours that the earlier ones have a slightly different decal than the later ones.

    These are good lanterns, Martin. A fine example.

    @Andrew T
    G'day Andrew, I don't know what the date range was for the white kerosene decal but by 1978 that had changed to a black kerosene decal.

    Thanks Tony / Jeff, It is a solid little lantern.
    When I found it there was still kero in the font and the mantle was in good nick. So I couldn't resist giving it a try. Primed, spluttered a bit and a small fire ball around the mantle then it burst into life. That pushed it to the front of the queue for a fettle. I think this one will get used regularly.

    I found a black Coleman decal on a 201 lantern dated 11 75 recently so the change could have been earlier than 78.
