Will take some more pics tonight with it lit.

Thanks guys, runs nicely. A noisy little chap, but good light. Some more pictures as promised. Apologies for the Butterfly glass...it’s all I can find where I live, short of importing an original. No heat shield on this model, but does not seem to be an issue as the tank stays cool.
    Cheers, Max

@Max Stone Like small dogs, often you hear them before you see them.

Hi all. New to the forum. I've also just picked up a '94 214A700 in very nice condition for the measly sum of R250. Max you should take a look at packrat.co.za they have a few spares in stock for the Coleman lanterns.

Hi Andrew - howzit my china, and good to link up with you on the forum. That was a steal! Congrats, it's a great little lamp.
Yes, I've been in contact with Packrat, but they struggle to get spares from Coleman. Over a year without replacement glass. But they have a few other spares and I have bought from them before.
It's difficult to find decent used lanterns in the SA market, I just have three (Colmans 214 & 639B, and an Optimus 930 I found in Port Alfred last year). There are a couple of people that have collections and offer service, and put refurbs up for sale on the usual sites at prices that are a little inflated (4-6X your price...), and I don't get much chance to troll the 2nd hand shops.
Anyway, good to hear from you and Durbs - was my hometown in the 80's...cheers!

    Hi @Max Stone and @Andrew-ZA
    Welcome to the forum.
That is quite a decent looking 214 as they are more often than not in a much poorer condition.
A gas supply shop should have globes suitable for a 214 and if you are lucky you could get an unmarked one.
There are still good deals on lamps and lanterns out there but it takes time to search for them.
    Happy hunting.

Thanks @Andrew T. Yeah the search is definitely half the fun.

All good man. I've always wanted a parafin version of the iconic Coleman lantern as I have had a 285A dual-fuel for a few years now and wanted to compare the two. All I can say is I'm very impressed with the brightness of the 214 especially since its a single mantle lamp. I almost positive that it is brighter than my dual-fuel.
