This is the second 220A i have found over the years. The correct filler cap for this model is the winged style cap. The original globe would be a mica chimney. The evolution of the 220 right before your eyes! The collar , burner assembly, tip cleaner assembly and fuel valve were different compared to the common slant model produced during the late 20s. Some 1928 models have been found. I have found over the years 2x 1929s 220A and one 1929 228A. Thank you Agostino Here are some other 220/228A models i have in my collection. 1929 228A 1929 220 1929
Yes these are odd because the A variations of 220/228 are not listed in any sales catalogue. Coleman sales jumped from L220 to 220B around 1930 and yet the lamps exist. The model numbers do exist in some Coleman parts catalogues so we now know the models existed and from the parts lists we sort of know what they looked like. I just love this because I refused for years to list the A models for a lack of paper evidence to prove the model. Careful research by the Canadian collectors has managed to convince me the evidence is good enough to admit I was wrong to refuse and that is very cool because it reveals the truth. ::Neil::
