From what I could determine, this is Akron's Model 125 Utility lamp. Other than the shade, it's identical to the Model 121-G. I did find a reference this lamp from a 1936 catalog at Pressure Lamps International here. I'm not entirely sure of the date of this lamp, as it's probably based more on the shade than the rest of the lamp which I believe was made through the 1930s and into the early 1940s.

It did fight me a bit in getting to hold pressure and work properly, requiring some intricate soldering. All's well now and it is a fine performer, very quick and easy lighting, quiet and quite bright. A nice junior size lamp with a shade the always reminds me of the Energy Dome worn by 1970s band Devo.

What a smart and chik lamp.
An unusual shade that makes me think wedding-cake and the boardgame, "The Towers of Hanoi".
I really like those tablelamps

This lamp with that shade were in the 1940 Akron catalogue. I am not sure of a date range for it although the shade is certainly later than 1933. Possibly made between 1935 and 1945 ish. The lamp type is much older of course because that is a mid 1920s model which Akron kept in the range for a long time. ::Neil::

    Thank you Jean,

I shall keep a keen eye out for another one of these shades. I already an additional complete 121 lamp, so we're half way there.

I'm always looking for original shades to complete some of my lamps. It's can be a long journey. You do get lucky sometimes though; just recently I found a true vintage artichoke shade for my Sunshine Safety (Nulite Model 10) table lamp (even though I had to buy the unwanted lamp it was with).

    Regards,
    Dan
