    Hi folks

Here is my Aladdin Petromax 826 which dates between 1937 and 1939. This lantern has no visible dare codes on the base and has not had the “Made in Germany” stamping covered over which leads me to believe it was sold prior to the beginning of WWII although it has a later “Schott Suprax Glas”.

There is no paddle adjuster in the j tube.

The only way to adjust the gap between the jet and j tube is by way of two hex nuts above the burner head and inner the inner hood.

“Made in Germany” is also stamped on the hood but is quite hard to see on this example.

I had this lantern running at CCS/CPL Newark meet this year and it is extremely bright. I believe it to be 300cp.

    Regards Jeremy

Its a normal Petromax Aladdin, E&G made and sold for one years in the UK.
The Aladdin catalogs mention them. I believe the 1939 catalogue they where crossed out.
I doubt if the top hat is original. From my memory they had a red top and the old style fixed (two screw) inner hood.
Nice lantern and due to the small sale window rare with that label.

I got my information from a nice old lady from the Aladdin UK factory.

That's definitely Made in Germany. An old one(looks like one from the later 30s but I could be wrong).
I don't they stamped a large '826' on the fount for later Petromaxes.

    Hello Jeremy,

Glad you have successfully brought it back to life, try and remember to run it to Ipswich this year.
