Very interesting lamp. I wonder if the hole in the middle of the flame spreader is for a Tito Landi style mantle holder?

It does look like it takes a mantle rod like the ones for the upright gas mantles...

No, it is not. It is to reduce the flame surface just to the border and it is not a hole but a rivet to hold a bigger piece under the net.

Thanks for the explanation. It is always good to learn something new. Sounds like a sensible idea as well. The mantle is around the edge, so that's where you need the flame.

Nice and complete lamp. I have got a couple of these gravity fed lamps but I had to restore botth with some non original parts to bring them to a condition that just seems original; the second one works but it is still waiting for restoration.
You can look for more information on these lamps on www.lampguild.org

You only need a new upright mantle as the rest of the lamp seems to be ok. Look for it on ebay: there are many there, as this one! mantle for sale Ask the seller to check if the diameter on the base fits on your burner and that´s all. Juan.

PS. for sure you considered this: it is a gasoline lamp which tank is above the flame so check very carefully for leakages and light it on the outside.
