Austramax 3/300 (Military)

    Here is an Austramax 3/300 stamped on the collar with the "D (broad arrow) D" designating it as the property of the (Australian) Department of Defence. It has the Austramax globe protector/reflector as an accessory.

    Fitted with the globe protector/reflector:

    The tank has a brass bottom. The others I have have either steel or stainless steel bottoms. Given the control wheel shown above, this 3/300 is older than the others I've shown in the Gallery.

    The only 'real' bit of fettling I needed to do to this lantern to get it going was replace the flame spreader which had burnt out. I had a spare:
