Bialaddin 300X Tank: green over red over brass.

    I was struck by the colour scheme of this Bialaddin 300X as I was pulling it down to clean:

    The brass tank has been painted a rust red over the brass then green. The base plate is simply green over brass.

    I don't think W&B used a primer on their lanterns. Hummm...:-k

    That would be my experience also, George. :thumbup:

    IDK - perhaps the first owners were the Fire Brigade who subsequently sold it to Greenpeace... ;) :lol:

    Sorry, Tony. Strayed off subject here. There is a possibility someone long ago cleaned the original paint off the lantern and decided on red. Someone else came along later and decided it was wrong and repainted it green. At any rate these are a great lantern.

    I suspect you are close to the mark on “someone... came along later and... repainted it green” but I think that happened before market.
