First let me thank those members who helped me to get this Bialaddin 315 operating
I probably should have purchased some mantles from BaseCamp or Fettlebox,
but got some Taiwanese mantles off eBay that turned out to be fairly low quality - especially the fragile tying strings.

Would any of you agree that is why I am getting the overburn in the attached picture?
Thanks for any other thoughts that could be the problem

Yes it is IR - is that good, bad, or original

Does your reply refer to the inferior mantles or to the IR marked on the glass

The IR is an Imber Research mark and I don't think I remember ever seeing it on a globe. I expect it would normally have been fitted to an IR315 not a Bialaddin315. The only other IR marking on the IR315 is stamped on the end of the control knob so you might want to have a look because an IR315 is much less common than the Bialaddin. Either way that is a borderline rare piece of glass. ::Neil::

Agree with Neil. These IR glasses are very hard to find and usually the seller knows what has and wants a fortune for it.
    You are lucky.

    IR also on control valve
Any difference in the gaskets, seals, mantles, etc versus the Bialaddin 315
    or in the quality
Sorry about the fuzzy globe picture, I think my macro function is being temperamental

Other than the brand name they are the same.

Willis & Bates of Halifax, Yorkshire, England, manufactured lanterns under the brand names of Vapalux and Bialaddin and Imber Research.

They also manufactured table lamps and bowl fires under the Bialaddin brand and the Imber research brand.

As far as I know Imber Research products were for export.

Jack Imber was the head of Aladdin UK..

The lanterns aren't easy to find at all but slightly easier in North America.

I've a vague idea I've an IR lantern around here somewhere but whether or not it's got an IR globe fitted, I just can't remember. I always found the IR heaters a bit easier to obtain...

Love to find a globe for my IR 310. I believe I have an unmarked 320 of some sort in it right now.
    :-k
