20200329_141038.jpg hi all, found this on e bay , I presume its Chinese made, checked with magnet ,steel fount cage and hood, mint condition and unused until now, it's a pity that the butterfly marked globe didn't survive the postal service. 20200329_141409.jpg 20200329_140934.jpg the only fettling I had to do on this was widen the air gap and fit a mantle. 20200329_144107.jpg 20200329_143835.jpg 20200329_143704.jpg we all like to see lamps working so here it is working very well, I borrowed the suprax globe from my hipolito 500, so now going to have to buy a new one.
It was advertised as vintage but I can't see that it would be that old, anyone on here got any ideas of possible age,

This chinese clone of a Px 828 is said to have an
acceptable quality. But it's always annoying sellers
don't know how to wrap a globe carefully.
It once happened to me, I told the seller and got
a refund. Maybe you try this?
    Anyway, enjoy your lamp.

As far I know, its not Made in China but Indonesia.
Some could date back decades but it was still being made recently. So it could be new. I'm not too sure if the lamp is still currently produced.

Neil MacRae (@Mackburner) has this “Butterfly” lantern and the others on the brochure pictured as made by Lea Hin Co of Singapore. Lea Hin Co. “has factories in Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia and Beijing” (from Neil’s Pressure Lamp Catalogue).

    Cheers

The earlier ones were indeed made in places as stated by Lea Hin but I guess lantern production in many such factories eventually diminished away or being superceded by more modern contemporary products. The only one I know that still manufactures them(lanterns) till at least recently is Indonesia.

    @Mr cod

Is there any information on the box, paperwork or components that gives an idea of date or place?

    Cheers

On all Butterfly lanterns, I've never been able to find any information on the box, the lantern or the instruction sheet on regards to the actual production site or anything that could provide hints on the date of manufacture.
The only information at most, would be the sole distributor, Lea Hin (Co.) Pte Ltd which is headquartered in Singapore.
As for one of my boxes, it has a sticker which states: Made in Indonesia.:-

But perhaps the barcode might tell something:).
I think its quite certain that if your lantern comes with plastic spirit filler and funnel, then its of a more recent manufacture.
The older ones come with brass-coated or chromated steel spirit fillers and fuel funnels.

As for glass globe, it could be made anywhere. But I suggest, if you could get them, the better made ones are also made by Schott, Germany.:
