Interesting find in the Museum on Bruny Island, Tasmania.

At the Southern end looking towards Antarctica was this ......

A Kitson Lighthouse Lantern with all the trimmings.

Fascinating... is the wire hook placed atop the whole affair meant to support a mantle?

Was there the fresnel anywhere nearby?

    Thanks for posting this!

Great work if you can get it. This was MY lighthouse in 1977 http://goo.gl/maps/hdoVJ

I retired 33 years later only to realize that the job I started with was the job that I wanted to end with!

Did you stay at the old Lighthouse keepers accommodation?

I've stayed there a few times, but never when the museum has been open.

You can get very wild weather down there.

    Cheers

    Tony
