    Seems the tank leaks at 2 spots minimum.... another challenge on the 220E....

    Where is it leaking? If it is from rust in the base plate, get rid of the fount. 220E founts are readily available cheaply.

    No. Base plate is ok. Its on the side.
    3 soldered. Another 3 micro spots identified.
    Generator was clogged too. Cleaned. Now lantern is much brighter.
    Added a preheat serpent.

    Again I'd replace the fount. If those leaks were caused by rust there will be others waiting to break through. 220 founts can be had far to cheaply to risk a compromised fount. If you are burning Coleman Fuel or the equivalent in that lantern there is no need for a pre-heat mechanism. Light according to the instructions and it will work fine. Open valve 1/4 turn, light, when mantles burn brightly open valve all the way.
