I was a bit confused over these small lamps and have often found them for sale. Often they were just named 220's + A and B-types or Peaks and often it wasnt correct. In CCF I found this thread explaining it all - almost: http://www.colemancollectorsforum.com/post/2222262293022-lantern-variants-6703519?highlight=226+variants&pid=1281149863#post1281149863 This variaty opens a new branch in my Collection needed to be filled Small lamps has pros and cons. One of the cons is that the lamps seals breaks apart after shorter time, but these parts can be shifted today with viton-rubber-seals making the lamps reliable. Still have to pump them often-ish. This one 226A is solid, nice enameled upper Hood, solid steel and simple way is made to dismantle the lamp. I like the Little one. As a lamp for the porch a summerevening where not that much noise and light is needed. Claus C
Yes I noticed Gneiss - you do have a nice bunch of Colemans and I dont know why the Coleman isnt in use commonly in DK. We seem to be a Petromax-, Primus-, Optimus- and a bit Tilley-country. The small 226,229 and Peak's is more common just on the other side of the border (Germany). Almost every time I see a Coleman here i DK I buy it. It cuts of shipmentscost and tax to do so - but they are still rarely seen here. Still, for a start, I am going to stick to the branch of small Coleman 220-variants - and a load of viton-seals Here between the FL6a and a Geniol 150 cp. Claus C
Claus, does that floodlamp have a steel top to the tank and a brass lower part? Like this one Link . Perhaps it's just me but the top looks a bit rusty and the bottom half looks brassy and I'm sure I can see the join between the two metals.
Yes Matthew. The chimney is steel, the topplate of the tank is steel and the rest of the tank is brass. The housing is lifted from the tank by some distance-disks - not as some of my other "normal" Fl6's. Its rusty because it is a user and not always comes in after use Claus C
It's the tank I'm looking at, do you think you could post that lamp in the reference gallery? I think that's an interesting piece and deserves its own spot due to that tank construction. There aren't any like that at the moment except the one I linked to and that's not great for reference due to its electricy bits. Nice lamp, no worries about a bit of rust, it's worse when they're shiney and you can't use them.
Anything for you Matthew and untill it is there you can comfort you with the both types lamps here: http://lampycisnieniowe.pl/forum/Thread-Tilley-FL6-Floodlight If you enlarge the Photos it is possible to see more details. And while visiting other lampsites then way of the 226 seals and repair is shown below, as a apetizer for one, to not being scared of the bad reputation the seals gave these handy lamps. http://www.colemancollectorsforum.com/post/226-leaky-valve-6048846 Claus C
