    The Coleman 242B "Sport-Lite".

Here is a very fine little 'gasoline' lantern. Canadian build and made in 1938:

The lamp came in its original battered box:

I fitted it with a Peerless 24A "Yttrium" mantle that Markds2 sent me to test.

I am not really a big fan of gasoline lanterns, but this is a good little lantern.

... and here is a brochure that came with the lantern. I will post the full brochure in the Reference Gallery when I scan it.

Cleaned up nicely and a good little lantern.   I'm looking forward to reading the brochure when it is listed.

    Great post Tony.

It is obvious that you are a respected member of CCS.
You post many detailed, close up photos for the gallery so that other members can compare their lantern with yours and see if there are slight changes or differences.

Tony, I notice that the directions that came with the lantern are for a 249 (Kerosene) lantern, I wonder if that is a mistake? Anyway, you've done a beautiful job of fettling this little 242B!

    Mark

The brochure that came with the 242B is definitely a ring in.

I included the pic of the front cover for completeness, and will scan the brochure and put it in the correct place in the Reference Library.

    Cheers

    Tony
