    Hi gang,

I've been given a northstar that in the past I couldn't get to work, when pressurised and attemping to light it the fuel would weep out from the area here,
I've assumed it was a gummed up generator so I've swapped it out for a new one, however I can get it to hiss when brought up to pressure, but I cant get it to ignite

Any idea what to check next?

As a side note sat out with the the 285 and 295 on last night which was pretty enjoyable

The valve is identical to the 285 and 295 and are infamous for the schrader valve acting up. Replace the entire valve assembly.

    Hi @Davy-Mac

i know very little about colemans but there are lots of folk out there that do

schrader valves and the viton rubbers they use are available.. perhaps from air con suppliers or similar.. car valves are not suitable

I just watched a very informative video by king coleman bill klock
he wasn’t dismantling a northstar but it had a similar system with a schrader valve.. he explained everything very clearly.. it is a useful video to watch if you are planning to overhaul your lantern?
im sorry i cant provide a link but it’s easy to find (i did it so it must be!)

please other members if I have posted something misleading please let me know, I would hate to mislead anyone
    Thanks

Edit : in the video he talks about possible malfunctions of the workings due to the heat shield not being fitted (overheating plastic parts) so something else to watch out for?

If you are getting fuel leaking out of the top of the generator you might have a gas tip that is loose.
