    It's not a find, I traded her against a Petromax 830,

I do not mean the Chinese one.

    Hi Karli,

I'm always fascinated about the complicated and sophisticated armatures at the Continentales. So many wheels and knobs and levers...
Interesting and in a good condition, surely worth trading for a 830 PX  .

Yes it's always fascinating with many gadgets.
I would love to see a picture with that strange pre-heater in action, Karli.

 It look like some nicely controlled preheating is going on there. Somebody did some thinking with that preheater when making it.

    Hi,

this must be a bit like the preheaters on the Swiss Hasag lanterns or some of the Ditmars. These types of preheaters also work well on gasoline or even on paraffin and operate with a nice blue flame. A bit smelly though... that's why I mostly use meths on them.

How exactly does the preheater work?
I assume it's mainly designed to run on petrol (Benzin), right?
Is it similar to the one Primus use on their Petrol lanterns, e.g. the 1050 with the gentle preheater?
Just that the Conti has a more elaborated design with the preheater surrounding the vapouriser?

    Hi Christer,

The preheater is working on the same way like the Primus 1051 pre heater.

    The Flame surrounds the generator

    Thanks Karli.
I really must get more German lanterns. I think I can count the few I got now on both my hands...
