Well after contacting a number of shops- I could not find some one who could handle my plating needs for my Coleman 316 repro project at a price that would not bump the retial price sky high~~~ so I decide to figure out how to plate in my shop----- I worked out a way to do it- ( not the standard method) but the worse part is the prep time-- your plate is only as good as the surface you put it on. I'm getting some orders to do fonts for the guys over here~~~~~~ here is atypical scenario for prepping to plate-- (took 3.5 hours to get ready) -----

Well done. Yes I agree, the end result finish is directly related to the preparation finish.
    Cheers

Excellent work. The prep's the most tedious, not only in this but pretty much applies to just about anything.

    Bruce,
Do you do nickel plating on lantern collars, say a 234 collar?

    Bruce,
No deep pitting at all, just down to the bare brass in some places. Would love to get this re-plated. I spent damn near 4 or 5 years just trying to find a collar for this lantern! I've totally rebuilt this 234, from the ground up! If I can get this done all that's left is a spring clip for the alcohol cup and she's completed.
