What a difference a new generator makes!! Replaced the tube, gauze and jet, but reused the old needle.

Fitted with a Peerless 22A, this thing GLOWS!

(Also running on low odour kero)

That is working very well - as good as the day it came out of the box I think.

Did much the same with a Austramax which I used often for 15 years on camping trips. A new generator and away it went.

Noticed I was having to use the pricker at times so gave the font a good clean out with a handful of small BA nuts and bolts shake routine. Did this a few times till the font was thoroughly cleaned out.

A great improvement and now rarely have to use the pricker. Likewise only run low odour kero.

I like the Austramax lanterns. the map of Australia with lightbeams and Austramax engraved in the font makes them look good

as a kid I grew up near the Austramax factory in Brunswick, Victoria. as far as I know they're still there as I called in to get some spares for mine about five years ago
