Hi all, Here is an EX100 I have just finished bringing back to life. I would like to know if the outer ring that is attached to the handle is original or if someone has added this. This is my first time posting here so please be gentle...

    Welcome, Matthew.

You’ve done a nice job on that lantern.

The ring on the handle is an aftermarket addition.

One small piece of advice. Fiddle with the lugs on the handle to ensure they are both screwed on firmly. It’s a pain sometimes to get them down and even, but it’s better than one side popping of while you’re lifting the lantern.

    Cheers

    Tony

Top of the hood is missing too.
Better wear gloves. It's going to be hot to carry.

G'day Matthew, It's cleaned up nicely. Congratulations

The shade isn't original for the EX100. You need to keep your eyes open for one like this. It won't flop around so much.

    From the reference gallery.

The control cock and pump look like Kayen items. Any thoughts?

    Nils

They could be Kayen. The poster of this lantern buys, restores and sells (see profile).

    More detailed photos would assist.

    Cheers

I did think the pump looked Nettlefold.

I've never been able to pick the difference between a Kayen and a Tilley control cock.
Some older Tilley ones have a hex at the T but the newer ones look the same to me.

??? What have I been missing?????

Well the brass knob to begin with. They are pretty uncommon on Tilley and they have a different shape. The knurled gland packing nut is also slightly different.

I was thinking Nettlefold with the pump, but I always get them mixed up so wasn't game to be that specific. :)

I agree that the pump and the control cock (maybe just the knob) are Kayen. The lugs on the handle (therefore the handle) also look Kayen to me. Tilley lugs are more parallel along the length and squarer on the shoulders.
I won't try to differentiate between Kopsen and Nettlefold.

Matthew don't get upset at the direction the discussion has taken. The lantern is in the reference gallery so inconsistencies need to be discussed.
