    Hello guys,

I was surfing the net and I came across this hanging lantern plaque. On the right handside there is a circle and two letters F R. What do they stand for? I have the same letters stamped on a German 100 c.p glass from the 30's -40's (a sort of green sealing wax).
Ps: I took this picture from the evil bay site.

Thanks, I think he was the Indian dealer I've seen in this forum. It makes sense.

    Hello Adolfo,

Franz Racek was not an Indian merchant! His real name was Francis Racek.
He was born in 1883 in the Austro-Hungarian Empire. This area is now part of the Czech Republic.
In the 1910s, he emigrated to India, where he opened his import business in 1925.

Franz Racek imported lamps from Hugo Schneider AG, Ehrich & Graetz and also from Hermann Nier (Feuerhand) in Beierfeld.
Until 1943, his company logo looked like this:

After 1945, the company was sold to Indian businessmen and the logo changed:

As you can clearly see, the old logo always read:
    F. R Quality Imports
while after the war it simply read:
    Quality Products First Rate

His own brands for the Indian market were:
    EFAR
    EFRAX
    EFAR 607
    EFAR 609
    EFAR-610
    EFAR-102
    RAX
    RAX 408
    RAX 508

These brands were used for small wick lamps, storm lanterns and also for pressure lamps. They were also used for mantles
    or tin boxes.

    Kind regards
    Jörg
