I hope to get this lamp delivered this week. As you can see it is not complete.
If someone has a matching hood I would be happy.
I know the "parallel" frame version but this seems to be a "triangular" version. Any information is appreciated.

Btw: why a "double"height filler cap and is that other thingy a pressure tit?
Forum search: gave a E41 model Vapalux ?

I think the ‘other thingy’ is an air release screw, given that there’s usually one incorporated in the filler cap. No idea why the cap on your example looks as it does.

    Recently seen at Newark.

Hi Wim, that looks very nice (understatement)

the double filler is actually a manometer
The small knob between the manometer/filler cap and the pump may be a pressure release knob?

if you can’t be bothered with it I can find room here??

    regards
    pb

ps all the parts look to be early E41 ?

Hello @Steve Wood and others,So it is a pressure gauge and a air reaese button. I hope the gauge is only dirty...
Seems not many are known to be around.

    Other thingy:
What happend with david that he is locked in the gallery?
And he is now called MackBurner ?

No, he is not Mackburner. As you can see, it says 'Last Message Mackburner', which just simply mean that Mackburner (Neil) made the last response in that topic before David decided to remove it.
David had a period when he for some unknown reson decided to delete a lot of his gallery posts, even when they got several replies, so you may still very well find this phenomenon in other places.

This particular 'left-over' is now removed entirely.

Hi again, see the titles now been changed to Vapalux E41, just to let you know at this time as far has I know, nobody knows the correct model number of this lamp. The model after this shown in presscall's post is model HD44, based on parts from a Vapalux 300. If anybody out there knows the correct model number, could they please let us all know.

Good evening @all and @Steve Wood,

I asked to change the title after some research I should have done before and not after posting. Sorry.
E41 is the Vapalux lantern which has the characteristics of the tank and upper body of this hand lamp.
From the PLC of @Mackburner I understand this: there was no database engineer at work in the factory who kept track of all the lantern types, nomenclature (?).
Even the E41 was unknown to them, until they got a card/label which belonged to it. So E41 seems the base part.

So E41 being a lantern, H2 being a "Hospital" (?) lamp or Over Head lamp the H for H41 as a Hand lamp is not plausible.
Maybe it is a S41 being a Searchlamp.

So it comes to what purpose was it designed for? Rail road, military, civil ?
Then: to be hung above a table but how does that combine with the H2 then?

Mine is now coming from Belgium, so maybe a special army version for abroad? Did the all have a box?

So despite all the track and trace apps stating that the parcel was not yet received, the postman was at the door with the parcel.
Lamp is as pictured in the picture so nothing new there.
Overall condition is good, the manometer however has a blurry "window pane", so the fettling question is: how do you get such a manometer apart ?

    Hi Wim,
That’s good news that it has arrived safely..
I will be interested in how the manometer comes apart also :-k

These are very scarce and it would be nice to have some more photos? And maybe one of the underneath ?? [-o<

    Yours hopefully,
    pB

Ah, that explains it. It deceived me into thinking it wasn’t a manometer but some sort of bulky filler cap!

I’ve not encountered a Vapalux manometer up close but The outer case and glass will surely separate from a backplate having the bourdon tube and needle mechanism attached to it.

From one of my stoves. The dial face was ruined and I got a graphics/photographer pal to make a new one from the visible clues remaining.

These are pretty well all military lamps. Most Vapalux production during WW2 was for MoD contracts and this Hospital type was unlikely to have ever been sold as a civilian model. No we don’t really know the model number for the E41 based hand lamp although I just wonder if this earlier version might be Vapalux HD41. We know HD44 is correct for the same lamp based on the model 300 from the instruction card below. I suppose it is also possible there were models HD42 and HD43 with variations of the base frame Etc. Paper from this period for Vapalux is scarce but maybe one day? ::Neil::

I think that the basic principle will be the same for most of these things.
I am familiar with those on the Petromax style lanterns. These have a thingy screw on the side to get it apart.

My best guess: at the pointer it can/should be possible to get it apart.
    But I can't see a seem.
Other possibility: the ring on the "glass" keeps all parts inside. So parts are put in, glass on top ring is pressed on.

Edit: as seen on the pictures, there is no spot of any grey or green paint. On the manometer itself it almost looks like it is painted a gold colour like Tilley lamps.

I suppose a rolled edge would make it bulletproof.. also fettle proof? :/

Do you think there may be lacquer over polished brass on the manometer?
Hard to tell from photos but you have it there, I thought I would ask :-)

I took a look at the E41's in the gallery and found not what I was looking for ;-)
    I only got more questions.
So here are some details of parts on my "HD41" which may or can be used to date parts or lamps.

    Bail knob:
@M.Meijer made a comment about the detailing of the bail knob.
Here is mine, double angled lines:
    Vapalux E41-Handlamp bail knob(7) web.jpg

    Pump shape:
    Vapalux E41-Handlamp pump knob (11) web.jpg

Also mentioned by @M.Meijer is the shape of the tank inserts. My lamp has round inserts:

    Vapalux E41-Handlamp tank nut (10) web.jpg

Al last but not least, I found only one lamp in the gallery that has the same red plastic know with white dot. Where is @David Shouksmith when you need him:
    Vapalux E41-Handlamp red knob (9) web.jpg

Also on David's lamp I noticed that the pressure indicator plate has another layout as well as text.
    Mine:
    0-15-30-45-60
    PRESSURE
    lbs 3inch (?)
    MADE IN ENGLAND

I have not cleaned the lamp at all. Pictures are way better then I imagined from a cell phone.
The hood has no markings and the air buts are the "newer" closed ones. From what I read is that the E41 would/should have open nut shape buts.

    Update:
pictures are way better then the old mark one eye ball: I thought the airtube ring had a dent but after taking a picture I could read: Patent registered
So who has the patent already found ?
As for the patent search: who's name would be on it?

    It looks great! 1940??
Photos are very clear  I like the way you are taking pics and talking as you go.. feels like a journey

I think you are right about the manometer and the top rolled rim holding everything in, all sealed

    regards

ps I’ve just ordered the book from Blurb

Now the question is: do these features match other E41 lamps or did they change so often parts and designs that there are plenty versions?
