    Here is my Tilley Pork Pie lamp.

    I have two pork pie Tilleys. Mine are both 1940's, abt 1946 or 47. Great lantern.
    You have a fine example. Very nice! :clap:

    With that first short carry handle, I call mine “Shorty the knuckle burner”.

    It must have been designed as a hanging lantern and not a carrying one. I tried looking up the fettle of your lantern but could not find it. Is it here in the CPL forum?

    I think they just made the handle too short! Tilley replaced it with a longer handle on the same cage.

    Same thing on my PL53! My fingers are so close to the vent when I carry it that the direct infrared radiation burns me, not just the rising hot air as with other lanterns.
